Transparent silicone is a universal flexible material with excellent thermal resistance. It is a strong, chemically inert polymer. Silicone is highly resistant to ozone and oxidation. It behaves well when exposed to ultraviolet and infrared rays, corona and ionizing discharges. It is resistant to moisture, stress, and long-term use and storage. Its operating temperature is between 60°C and 250°C. Now we can observe the growing trend of using products made of transparent silicone rubber.
Red silicone perfectly operates at different temperatures from -45°C to 250°C. However, some indicate good resistance to temperatures up to 300°C.
Silicones are characterized by very high elasticity and compressibility, which they retain even during operation at high temperatures. The same can be said about their resistance to:
- twisting,
- creasing,
- breaking.
Expanded silicone is characterized by
- low water absorption due to its closed cell structure,
- excellent resistance to ozone, oxidation, UV light, ionizing radiation,
- high weather resistance.
